Concert with Monika Stauss Joensen, violin, and Andrea Stauss Hofmann, organ and piano
On Tuesday, 23 June at 8:00PM, a concert will be held at the Boat Museum in Leirvík with violinist Monika Stauss Joensen and pianist Andrea Stauss Hofmann. The musicians are sisters and originally from Switzerland. Monika has lived in the Faroe Islands for many years and has worked as a violin teacher at the music school. Her sister Andrea lives in Switzerland, where she works as an organist in various churches.
In recent years, the two sisters have regularly performed concerts around the Faroe Islands, while also being very active in Switzerland when Monika visits there.
Monika and Andrea began playing violin and piano at the ages of seven and eight. Just four years later, they impressed audiences at the “Yecklin Competition” in chamber music in Zurich.
This year, they will perform two public concerts together in the Faroe Islands. The first will take place on Tuesday, 23 June at 8:00PM at the Boat and Art Museum in Leirvík.
The second will take place at Riberhús in Fuglafjørður on Thursday, 25 June at 8:00PM.
The concert at the Boat Museum in Leirvík is part of Summartónar, organised once again this year by the Association of Faroese Composers, with concerts held throughout the country.
Tickets cost DKK 50 and are available at the door. Children have free admission, and complimentary coffee will be served after the concert.
Everyone is warmly welcome.
