art exhibition with Ellintur Justinussen

From 26 to 28 June, an art exhibition will be held in the rooms beneath the Boat and Art Museum in Leirvík, Kulibakki 8.

At the exhibition, Ellintur Justinussen will present paintings and drawings, including both new and older works. Esther Skála will also take part with drawings and other works.

The opening reception will be on Friday, 26 June at 4:00PM. Eirikur Skála will provide musical entertainment, and coffee, tea and something sweet will be served.

Ellintur Justinussen was born at Klaksvík Hospital on 10 December 1963 and grew up in Leirvík as the youngest child in a large family. Already as a child, he spent a great deal of time drawing, and his interest in visual art stayed with him throughout his school years.

As a teenager, he received his first materials for oil painting, and at around the age of 17 he was invited to take part in the annual Lions Easter Exhibition at the school in Runavík. There, he also sold some of his paintings, marking an important beginning in his path as an artist.

Later, Ellintur moved to Denmark to study engineering. His years of study in Aarhus, followed by periods in Aalborg and Frederikshavn, gave him both professional and artistic development. Among other things, he attended life drawing, drawing and painting courses, and received instruction in watercolour painting from the artist Lotte Dyrberg.

Today, Ellintur lives in Strandby, where he is part of the art group Kontrasterne, based in premises at the harbour area. There, he regularly paints alongside other artists and art enthusiasts.

Now he returns to Leirvík with an exhibition that shows both his artistic development and his strong connection to his home village. The exhibition will be held in the rooms beneath the Boat Museum.
